Minutes:
It was clear that the Welsh Government was not going to change its position on Land Transaction Tax. Joel James MS expressed disappointment with the Cabinet Secretary’s response. Going forward it would be a matter for party manifestos. Therefore, the committee agreed to close the petition.

The Committee considered the petition and noted the Cabinet
Secretary has provided a comprehensive response to the petitioners additional
questions, but there is clearly a difference of opinion with the petitioner on
the policy approach in Wales.
Members noted there is little more the Committee can do to take the issue forward, however before closing the petition, the petitioner’s recent response should be forwarded to new Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language, as it calls for further assessment to be made of the possible benefits of targeted relief. The Cabinet Secretary would also be asked when a further review of the impact of LTT was planned.
