The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to close the petition in light of the Minister stating that she is not prepared to legislate. 

The Chair and Russell George placed on record that they are Members of Powys County Council.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to:

·         write to the Minister asking for further clarification on the need for legislation;

·         Seek further legal advice if necessary; and

·         write to the petitioner asking for their views on the Minister’s statement.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to;

·         write to the Minister for Local Government and Government Business sharing the correspondence from One Voice Wales and highlighting that they support the need for legal guidance from the Welsh Government; and

·         await the update from the Minister.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to;

·         the Minister for Local Government and Communities asking if he would consider issuing a note summarising the legal advice that has been received on this issue, as requested by the WLGA; and

·         One Voice Wales, seeking their views on the petition.

The Committee considered correspondence in relation to this petition and agreed to write to the WLGA, One Voice Wales and National Parks Wales asking for their views on the issues raised by the petition.

The Committee considered legal advice relating to the subject of the petition and agreed to await the response of the Minister for Local Government and Communities to the Chair’s initial letter.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to:

Take legal advice on the matter and consider it again at the next meeting;

Write to the Minister on the subject, enclosing the evidence received.
