Minutes:
It was welcomed that the Burns Commission recommendations were now moving into the delivery phase with funding identified, and noted that commitments about delivering the network were likely to feature in Senedd election manifestos. Members therefore thanked the petitioner for their sustained interest and agreed to close the petition.

Minutes:
The Committee noted the petitioners’ disappointment and the uncertainty about delivery of the new stations recommended by the South East Wales Transport Commission (the Burns Commission). It was agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Transport to ask for clarity on the specific timeline for opening those stations and about his discussions with the UK Government on the matter. The petition would be kept open pending the Cabinet Secretary’s response.

Minutes:
The Committee considered the petition and agreed to write
to:
- the Deputy Minister to
ask about the specific timescales for the development of Magor station,
and whether it could be expedited sooner as a ‘quick win’ as part of the
plan by the Delivery Unit; and
the train companies, First Great Western and
Transport for Wales, asking when they will be ready to run trains to and from
Magor, and what specific barriers, if any, exist on site to prevent them doing
it sooner.
