The Committee considered the petition and decided that, as the Minister has decided not to legislate in this area, there was nothing more they could do other than thank the petition and close the petition.

The Committee considered the petition and in light of the new UK legislation to prosecute irresponsible and dangerous watercraft use Members agreed to write to the Welsh Government and ask whether they plan to enhance protection for wildlife around our coasts.

The Committee considered the petition and agreed to keep a watching brief on the petition pending the publication of the findings of the UK consultation on whether these types of craft should be within scope of the provisions of the Merchant Shipping Act.

In light of the UK Government publishing its response to the consultation on this issue in three months, the Committee agreed to wait to see this response before considering this petition further.

 

The Committee also agreed to write to the WLGA to see if there has been any coordination between maritime local authorities in Wales on this issue.
