Minutes:
The Committee considered the petition and noted that a joint
debate will take place in plenary on 12 July on the reports by the Petitions
Committee, and the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
The Chair thanked everyone involved and noted that a wide range of stakeholders who gave evidence for both inquiries have been invited to the Senedd to watch the debate.

Minutes:
Steven Williams, Citizen Engagement Manager, gave an overview of a recent engagement with care experienced parents across Wales, sharing some of the key themes which were highlighted. He thanked all 24 individuals who contributed and shared their often-difficult experiences. Jack Sargeant MS and Chair of the Petitions Committee and Committee Member Buffy Williams MS shared their humbling experience of listening to care experienced parents being supported by Voices from Care and thanked them for their time and for sharing their experiences.
The Committee has invited the Deputy Minister for Social
Services to attend a future meeting.

The Committee accepted the recommended approach in the scoping paper and agreed to take direct evidence from care-experienced parents, local authorities, CAFCASS and third sector organisations who support the young people and invite academics from the Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre at Cardiff University to present their research findings in this area.
