He is member of the British Association for Shooting and Conservation.
The Committee noted that the Welsh Government have provided
assurance regarding consulting stakeholders when they progress the review of
the Code although they are unable to provide a specific timescale at present
due to the impact of the Avian flu, Covid and Brexit. In light of the assurance
from the Minister, the Committee agreed to thank the petitioner and close the
petition.

one last time to seek specific responses to the concerns and questions raised
by the petitioner and highlight the Game Birds (Cage Breeding) Bill which has
been introduced in the House of Lords.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and
agreed to write back to the Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs
to:

share the further comments provided by the
petitioners;
·
seek an update on the review of the Code of
Practice commenced in 2019 and any further research being considered on this
issue; and
· seek clarification as to why the Minister is not minded to act to move further to prohibit the practice of caging birds for this purpose.
