William Powell declared the following interest under Standing Order 17.24A:

Both he and the petitioner are Welsh Liberal Democrat prospective candidates for the Assembly’s Mid and West Wales region.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to close it.

The Committee correspondence on the petition and agreed to await the petitioner’s views on the Minister’s response.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and, in light of the petitioner’s comments agreed to write to:

·         The Minister for Economy, Science and Transport and Pembrokeshire County Council, asking for an update on any plans for town centre improvements for Fishguard; and

·         The petitioner, asking if there are any specific further steps that the Committee could take to progress the petition.

The Committee considered petition and agreed to:

• write to the petitioner asking whether they wish to continue with the petition; and
• close the petition if a response is not forthcoming within six weeks.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to await a response from the petitioner and the County Council.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to SWWITCH copying in Pembrokeshire County Council asking them to;

·         monitor the position and let the Committee know of any developments nearer the new financial year; and

·         consider how the scheme could be brought more fully within the criteria the Vibrant and Viable Places Scheme.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to:

·                     SWWITCH asking for an update on how the Fishguard proposals are progressing; and

·                     Pembrokeshire Council highlighting the Welsh Government’s correspondence and encouraging them to take this forward as part of the new regeneration framework.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to;

·         the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport highlighting the Council’s concerns about the link road scheme; and

·         the Minister for Housing and Regeneration to ask how the new regeneration framework will assist with bringing forward improvements, such as those being called for in Fishguard. 

The Committee agreed to write to:

·         The Minister for Local Government and Communities sharing the petitioner’s information; highlighting the length of time the Committee has been waiting for a response, and the difficulties this poses in enabling the Committee to consider the petition; and

·         the Council Leader and the Chief Executive of Pembrokeshire Council, asking if they have any plans and sufficient funding to take this scheme forward.

Additionally the Committee agreed to keep the petitioner informed of developments.

The Committee considered correspondence relating to this issue.

The Committee agreed to seek information on the outcomes and action points arising from the recent meeting held locally on this issue and to ask whether the Minister is engaging with the group.

The Committee considered this petition for the first time and agreed to:

Await the response from the Minister;

Write to Pembrokeshire County Council and local access groups seeking views on the subject of the petition.
