The Committee noted the priority given to mental health by the Health and Social Committee in its forward work programme and agreed to encourage the petitioner to take up the opportunity to contribute to their consultation.

 

In doing so, the Committee agreed to close the petition and thank the petitioner for raising such an important issue.

The Committee considered the correspondence received and agreed to write to the Chair of the Health Committee to request that they consider focusing on mental health support in their forward work plan, outlining the concerns raised by the petitioner.

The Committee considered the correspondence received and agreed to share the petitioners’ further comments and proposals with the Minister for Mental Health and seek a specific response to these. The Committee also requested that the comments are provided to the mental health network board and the national mental health forum for service users and carers for use in the work currently being undertaken in relation to mental health services.

The Committee acknowledged the petitioner and her family’s strength in creating the petition and sent their deepest condolences. Members also noted their disappointment that no response had been received from the Welsh Government, and agreed to write again enclosing the petitioner’s further comments for consideration, and seeking a response at the earliest opportunity.
