Minutes:
The Committee agreed
that there is no further action that it could realistically take at this time
in light of the detailed responses received, including about work planned but
delayed by the Coronavirus pandemic, and the fact that the Minister for
Education has ruled out introducing new legal duties at this time. The
Committee agreed to close the petition and thank the petitioner for her
engagement throughout the process.

Minutes:
The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and
agreed to write back to the Minister for Education to ask whether the planned
review of its approach to allergies has been impacted by the pandemic, and to
the WLGA to ask for details of the work being taken forward on special diets in
schools.

Minutes:
The Committee considered further correspondence and agreed to write to:
· Allergy UK and Anaphylaxis UK to ask for their views on the current situation and any evidence they have about the sufficiency of current advice and guidance for schools;
· Public Health Wales to seek their view in relation to the role of schools in relation to allergies and the advice available to them; and
· the Association of Directors of Education to seek their perspective on how schools ensure all children with allergies are adequately safeguarded and supported, and for a view on the sufficiency of existing duties and advice.

Minutes:
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Minister for Education to seek clarification on the monitoring of the implementation of the guidance and ask them to ensure the petitioner and other people with lived experience are consulted when reviewing the approach to allergies and immunology from a health perspective. The Committee also agreed to propose that the Minister’s officials meet with the petitioner to discuss the current support for children with allergies in schools.
