The Committee agreed to note the further information received and the fact that a planning application is now under consideration by the Planning Inspectorate. Given the formal planning process which controls the consideration of applications for Developments of National Significance, the Committee agreed that there is no further action that it is able to take at this time. It therefore agreed to close the petition and thank the petitioner.

The Committee considered further information and agreed to:

·         See clarification from the developers about the potential number of wagons to and from the plant, the capacity of the furnace and potential emissions from the plant; and

·         note that a statutory consultation into the proposals is underway and a full planning application is due to be submitted in the autumn and to keep a watching brief on developments at the current time.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to:

·         write to Môr Harfen Bio Power to seek information about the development of the draft plans for the proposed development, including timescales and their intentions for further public engagement or consultation; and

·         write to the Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs and the Minister for Housing and Local Government to ask whether continued incineration of waste aligns with the declaration of a Climate Emergency and the Welsh Government’s waste strategy.
