Members discussed the evidence session on 11 November and agreed to;

 

·         write to the Police Commissioner for North Wales and the Chief Constable seeking their views on the apparent illegality on the common;

·         write to the NFU and FUW for their views on the issues raised by the petitioners;

·         ask the Environment Committee to consider the implications of the petition when considering forthcoming legislation; and

·         recirculate to Members the legal brief summarising the issue.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Minister for Culture and Sport highlighting the difficulties local communities face in protecting common land, and asking what support can be given to such communities.

 

Dependent on the programme of events, the Committee agreed to incorporate a site visit to Llangoed as part of the outreach activity in the autumn term.
