The Committee considered further correspondence and agreed to note NRW’s intention to consider the use of Larsen traps as part of a wider review of all wild bird licensing in 2020, and to close the petition in light of the scrutiny which will be applied to this practice through that process.

The Committee considered further correspondence and agreed to write back to NRW to accept their offer to investigate the use and regulation of Larsen Traps, and ask for them to provide an indicative timescale for when they anticipate carrying out this work.

The Committee agreed to write to the Minister for Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs and Natural Resources Wales in order to highlight the information received from a range of stakeholders, and seek responses to the concerns raised about the use and regulation of Larsen traps as well as further information about any action being taken or considered in this area.
