Minutes:
The Committee considered further correspondence and agreed to close the petition in light of the fact that the Welsh Government is currently reviewing school-attendance guidance with a view to issuing a public consultation in future, and the commitment given by the Minister for Education that introducing scope to record absences as being related to a chronic health condition is being considered as part of that work.

agreed to keep a watching brief on the petition pending the publication of the
revised school attendance framework next year, before deciding whether to take
any further action on the petition.

- ask for her response to the petitioner’s
suggestion that attendance registers should include scope for absences to
be recorded as being due to a chronic health condition; and
- seek an update on progress with the
review of attendance guidance.
