The Committee considered correspondence from the then Leader of the House and the Equality and Human Rights Commission and agreed to write to the Welsh Government to welcome the consideration of actions referred to by the previous Minister, especially the implementation of a pilot scheme, and request an update on the timescales for further consideration or work in this area, now that the consultation on the revised Framework for Action on Independent Living has finished.

Discussion of Previous Evidence Session - P-05-806 We call for all premises in Wales to be awarded an Access Certificate number similar to the Food Hygiene Certificate

Minutes:

The Committee discussed the evidence heard and agreed to write to:

·         the Leader of the House and Chief Whip to provide information about the issues heard during the evidence session and ask whether the Welsh Government would consider running a public consultation on the possibility of introducing such a scheme. The Committee also agreed to raise concerns over the evidence received that the provisions in the Equality Act 2010 have had little effect on improving the accessibility of premises for people with disabilities; and

·         the Equality and Human Rights Commission to raise concerns over the evidence received that the provisions in the Equality Act 2010 have had little effect on improving the accessibility of premises for people with disabilities, and that the requirements of the Act are not being properly enforced.
