Committee considered correspondence from another parent but, in light of the
existing powers that Headteachers have to temporarily disapply aspects of the
National Curriculum - including the possibility of a temporary exemption from
particular subjects, agreed to close the petition.

The
Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to:

request
information about the level of support available in the teaching of Welsh to
pupils with dyslexia and what happens in extreme cases where it is identified
that a pupil is struggling to learn a second language; and
·
await
the views of the petitioner on the response from the Minister for Welsh
Language and Lifelong Learning before deciding whether to take any further
action on the petition.
