The Committee considered further correspondence and agreed that, whilst it had great sympathy with the residents of Llangenny over this issue, it would close the petition at this point as it does not seem possible to make further progress in relation to broadband services in Llangenny at this time.

The Committee considered correspondence from the then Leader of the House and agreed write to the Deputy Minister for Economy and Transport, following his statement of 18 January, to ask him to provide the Committee with an update about coverage for premises in Llangenny when he is in a position to do so and, if the village will be covered by the programme, to provide an indicative timeline for its connection to high speed broadband.

The Committee considered correspondence from Openreach and the Leader of the House and agreed to await an announcement in relation to the successor scheme to Superfast Cymru, and to seek details at that point as to whether Llangenny can expect to be connected to superfast broadband through that programme.

The Committee considered an update from the petitioners and agreed to write back to the Leader of the House and Chief Whip and BT Openreach, to ask them to expedite the installation of high speed broadband to the village given previous assurances that it had been done.

The Committee considered correspondence from The Leader of the House and Openreach together with additional comments from the petitioner and agreed to seek an update on the latest position from the petitioner before considering the petition again, given that it is currently unclear whether Llangenny has been connected to superfast broadband based upon the information received.

·         BT to highlight the frustrations of the petitioners and ask for clarity over the plans and timescales for connecting properties in Llangenny to broadband; and

·         The Leader of the House, to share the concerns raised by the petitioners.
