Committee considered the petition alongside petitions P-05-767 and P-05-792 and
agreed to close the petitions in light of the assurances provided by the
Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport that the petitions and the views of
local communities will be taken into account during the ongoing Speed Limit
Review, and the prospect that there is little further concrete action that the
Petitions Committee could take.

Committee considered this petition together with P-05-721 Penegoes Speed Limit
Petition and P-05-792 Petition to extend the 40mph speed limit in Blaenporth
and agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport to ask
for:
- further details about the progress of
the Speed Limit Review to date, the principles underpinning it and the
assessment criteria used; and
- practical examples of places that have
been reviewed during 2018 so far, and what the outcome has been in each
case.

The
Committee had previously agreed to group this petition together for
consideration with P-05-721 Penegoes Speed Limit Petition and P-05-792 Petition to extend the 40mph speed limit in
Blaenporth.
Members
considered correspondence from the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport
together with further comments from the petitioner and agreed to write to the
Cabinet Secretary to ask whether he will consider developing a programme for
the Speed Limit Review and make it publicly available, in order to respond to
concerns over a lack of openness with the process.

intends to prioritise the work of that Review.
