Meetings

The Committee considered correspondence from Natural Resources Wales and agreed to close the petition.  In doing so, they also agreed to ask the Climate Change, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee to note the issues raised by the Committee when considering their forward work programme.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to:

·         Await the responses from the Minister and Natural Resources Wales;

·         Ask the incoming Environment Committee to consider the issues raised by the petition or, depending on their response;

·         Ask the incoming Committee to consider carrying out a piece of work itself on the issues raised by the petition.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to:

·         Write to the Minister for Natural Resources and Emyr Roberts, Chief Executive of Natural Resource Wales to seek their views on the apparent difference of approach in England and Wales;

·         Await the response from the ABI; and

·         Request a note from the Research Service setting out the differences in the approach taken in England and Wales.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to:

·         Natural Resources Wales seeking views on the correspondence so far;

·         the Association of British Insurers asking for their views on the insurance premiums charged on houses previously flooded but in low risk flood areas; and

·         explore whether any previous work has been undertaken by Committees on Flood Resilience.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to seek comments from the lead petitioner.   

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to the Minister for Natural Resources, Culture and Sport seeking his views on the petition.
