The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport asking for further information as to why the construction has been delayed and how traffic congestion will be addressed in the interim.

·         outlining the approach suggested by the previous responsible Minister asking if she will agree to this approach; and

·         seek clarification on the anticipated start date, highlighting that different dates have been given. 

The Committee agreed to close P-04-261 in light of the decision by the Welsh Government to proceed with the by-pass.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to;

Share the petitioner’s response with the Minister for Local Government and Communities asking that he responds to the questions raised, and that he details the timetable for the by-pass;

Secure a note of any decisions and actions that arise from future public meetings with the Welsh Government on the by-pass.

The Committee considered correspondence in relating to these petitions and agreed to:

Seek petitioners’ comments on the report provided by the Minister; 

Ask the Minister whether any of the data collected to produce the report, which the Minister agreed to forward to the Committee during his oral evidence session, has yet to be forwarded; and

Forward the report to the Chair of the Powys Local Growth Zones group for information.

The Minister for Local Government and Communities answered questions from the Committee on this issue and agreed to share the data from the before & after study of traffic congestion with the Committee, which will be available next month.

The Committee agreed to invite the Minister for Local Government and Communities to give evidence to the Committee in relation to these petitions.

The Committee considered this petition for the first time.

Russell George declared an interest in the petition.

The Committee agreed to:

·               Write to the Minister for Local Government and Communities seeking his views on the issues raised by the petition.
