Decarbonisation of Transport - Road based public transport

Status: Recommendations approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Purpose:

The Economy, Infrastructure and Skills Committee agreed to undertake an inquiry into Decarbonisation of transport

Summary

The Welsh Government is currently developing the next Wales Transport Strategy (WTS).

The revised WTS is due to be published in May 2020 and will include a key focus on moving to lower carbon modes of transport to meet the Welsh Government’s decarbonisation targets and reduce the growing number of Air Quality Management Areas.

The Committee is keen to influence the development of the WTS.

  • Is the Welsh Government’s vision for the decarbonisation of transport sufficiently innovative, particularly in terms of advocating new technologies?
  • What action is required, and by whom, to achieve the targets, policies and objectives?
