Purpose:

The Welsh Government laid its draft budget for 2017-18 (PDF, 298KB) on 18 October 2016.

In July 2016, the Finance Committee launched a public consultation on proposals for the draft budget and these findings fed into evidence sessions on strategic matters within the draft budget during the autumn term.

Other Assembly Committees held separate evidence sessions on more specific matters within the draft budget, which fed into the Finance Committee’s report.

The Committee published a report on its Scrutiny of the Welsh Government Draft Budget 2017-18 (PDF, 2MB) on 29 November 2016. The Welsh Government response (PDF, 411KB) to the Committee’s report was received on 9 January 2017.

The whole Assembly approved the draft budget in Plenary on 6 December 2016. The Welsh Government laid its final budget for 2017-18 (PDF, 237KB) on 20 December 2016, which was also approved by the whole Assembly in Plenary on 10 January 2017.
