To
propose that the National Assembly for Wales:
1.
Notes the serious difficulties facing the red meat and dairy sectors in Wales;
2.
Regrets the decline in the farm-gate price of milk and lamb;
3.
Regrets the failure of the UK Government to reform the red meat levy;
4.
Calls on the Welsh Government to:
a)
utilise the Rural Development Programme to provide immediate support for those
sectors and businesses most affected;
b)
protect Welsh farmers from the volatility of global markets by strengthening
domestic supply chains;
c)
make urgent representation to the UK Government with a view to introducing a
fairer red meat levy distribution system; and
d)
work towards holding a Welsh national year of food and drink as a focal point
for the promotion of Welsh produce on a domestic and international level.
