Questions to the First Minister

Purpose:
Assembly Members (AMs) may
ask Oral Assembly Questions to the First Minister about any matter falling
within their areas of responsibility.
The First Minister answers
questions each week. Oral questions are answered during a designated Question
Time in Plenary.
The Presiding Officer
conducts a ballot to determine the names of Members who may table questions.
Each Member may enter their name into a ballot.
The Member selected must then
table their oral question at least five days before the question is due to be
answered. A computer randomly selects the order in which the questions are to
be asked in Plenary.
Decision:
The item started at 13.30
Questions 1 – 8 and 10 - 11 were asked. Question 9 was
withdrawn. The Presiding Officer invited party leaders to ask questions to the
First Minister after Question 2.
The Presiding Officer welcomed
members of the school council from St Illtyd’s Roman Catholic Primary School in
Dowlais who were in the Public Gallery.
