Purpose:
A
Government Bill, introduced by Lesley Griffiths AM, Minister for Health and
Social Services. Following a change in ministerial portfolios in March 2013,
the First Minister authorised Mark Drakeford AM, Minister for Health and Social
Services, as the new Member in Charge of the Bill, from 18 March 2013. The
Business Committee remitted the Bill to the Health and Social Care Committee.
About the Bill
The
Human Transplantation (Wales) Bill aims to increase the number of organs and
tissues available for transplant by introducing a soft opt-out system of organ
and tissue donation in Wales.
Current Stage
The Human
Transplantation (Wales) Act 2013 (external website) became law in Wales (external
website) on 10 September 2013.
