Orders of the National Assembly for Wales
SO6.1 At its first meeting
after an Assembly election, the Assembly must elect from its Members a Presiding
Officer and a Deputy.
SO6.2 If the office of the
Presiding Officer or that of the Deputy becomes vacant, the Assembly must, as
soon as possible, elect a Member to fill the vacancy. The election of a
Presiding Officer takes precedence over all other business
Decision:
The Presiding Officer invited nominations in accordance with Standing Order 6.6.
Jocelyn Davies proposed the nomination of William Graham.
Peter Black seconded the nomination.
Simon Thomas proposed the nomination of David Melding.
Christine Chapman seconded the nomination.
As there were two nominations, a secret ballot took place in accordance with Standing Order 6.8.
