Evaluation of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014

Evaluation of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014

The Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act came into force on 6 April 2016.

The Act provides the legal framework for improving the well-being of people who need care and support, and carers who need support, and for transforming social services in Wales.

The Welsh Government commissioned an independent evaluation of the Act, which concluded at the end of 2022.

On 25 May 2023, the Health and Social Care Committee and the Public Accounts and Public Administration Committee held an evidence session with academic experts to discuss the evaluation of the Act, next steps and any areas in need of further attention.

Following the meeting on 25 May 2023, the Committees wrote jointly to the Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services to highlight issues raised during the evidence session.
