Civil Emergencies in Wales
Civil Emergencies in Wales
The Auditor General for Wales
published his report on Civil Emergencies in Wales in December 2012. The report
found that when called upon, civil contingency arrangements have, so far,
worked satisfactorily in Wales. It also details that the Welsh Government has
supported a very effective and skilful response from the partnership of
organisations responding to major services.
The Public Accounts Committee received a
briefing from the Auditor General on 15 January 2013 and undertook an inquiry
based on issues raised in the Auditor General’s report.
During the inquiry, the Committee
examined the following issues:
- the Welsh Government’s and UK Government’s role in supporting organisations involved in the management of civil contingencies;
- an overall view on the financial challenges facing organisations in managing civil contingencies;
- and the particular challenges faced by all organisations in developing and implementing emergency plans.
