Purpose of the consultation
At
its meeting on 19 September the Remuneration Board undertook its third consideration
of part three of its review of the Determination for the Sixth Assembly. This
part of the review focuses on Member’s Remuneration, winding up provision and
additional support for Members chapters three and nine of the Determination.
The Board has identified a
number of areas within these chapters where it is of the view that changes may
be required. The Board is also consulting on proposals to change some rules of
the Members’ Pension Scheme. Full details of the Board’s proposals are detailed
in the consultation
document.
Terms of reference
The Remuneration Board, in
its strategy report for 2016-2021, outlined its commitment to publishing its
Determination for the Sixth Assembly one year before the Welsh general election
in 2021. The Board has agreed the following terms of reference for the review:
- the
suitability of the level of support provided within the Determination;
- the
flexibility, prescriptiveness and accessibility of the provisions;
- the
probity, accountability, reasonableness and transparency of the
expenditure made available.
Providing written evidence
The National Assembly for
Wales has two official languages, Welsh and English.
In line with the Assembly’s
Official Languages Scheme,
the Board requests that documents or written responses to consultations
intended for publication or use by the Board are submitted bilingually. When
documents or written responses are not submitted bilingually, they will be
publish in the language submitted, stating that it has been received in that
language only.
The Board expects other
organisations to implement their own standards or schemes and to comply with
their statutory obligation.

letter.
The deadline for
submissions is Monday 11 November 2019. It may not be possible to take into
account responses received after this date.
