Evidence submitted in response to this Consultation
The External Affairs and Additional Legislation Committee established a sub-committee to undertake Stage 1 scrutiny of the general principles of the Regulation of Registered Social Landlords (Wales) Bill.
On 29 September 2017 the Office for National Statistics (“ONS”) announced that Registered Social Landlords in Wales should be classified in the national accounts as Private Non-financial Corporations.
The Welsh Government states that the purpose of the Bill is to enable the re-classification of Registered Social Landlords as “Private Non-Financial Corporations” for the purposes of government accounting.
The sub-committee welcomed views on the general principles of the Bill. In drafting submissions, the following questions were considered:
Please be aware that the sub-committee’s remit will only allow it to consider this narrow aspect of housing policy. The sub-committee will not be able to consider submissions that address issues beyond the general principles of the Bill.
Providing Written Evidence
The National Assembly for Wales has two official languages, Welsh and English.
In line with the Assembly’s Official Languages Scheme, the sub-committee requests that documents or written responses to consultations intended for publication or use in National Assembly proceedings are submitted bilingually. When documents or written responses are not submitted bilingually, we will publish in the language submitted, stating that it has been received in that language only.
We expect other organisations to implement their own standards or schemes and to comply with their statutory obligation.
