EVENT: CommuniTeas

Date: Thursday 16 March 2023

Time: 10.00 - 15.00

Location: Oriel, Senedd

Description: Following the success of our campaign in 2021 ‘Communities for Refugees’, Reset are launching a new campaign called ‘CommuniTeas’. Through this new campaign we aim to increase the number of people sponsoring refugees in the UK, by bringing people together over a cup of tea. Reset currently supports three schemes that welcome refugees: Community Sponsorship, Homes for Ukraine and Neighbours for Newcomers. This new campaign aims to encourage all forms of community-led welcome, but primarily grow the number of Community Sponsorship groups. In December we will launch the campaign with stories from people of all backgrounds explaining what sharing a cup of tea means to them. From January we will launch the local tea parties by encouraging people to sign up to become a Rep. Upon signing up, Reps will receive a pack and will be contacted by us to help plan their local tea party. Local tea parties will end 10 days before their regional tea parties. We will be asking all local tea party Reps to document their tea parties in the form of photos which we will share at regional events. From the 1st March we will be launching our Regional Tea Parties which will run until the 20th of March in four major cities: London, Manchester, Cardiff and Edinburgh. From April we will turn local tea parties into action. We’ll encourage those involved to form Community Sponsorship groups and thus expand the community-led welcome of refugees across the UK.

Open to the public: Attendance at the event is by invitation only however the Senedd and the Pierhead will remain accessible to the public during our normal opening hours.
