Description: The South Wales Miners’ Museum presents ‘Pit Bottom to Parliament’, an exhibition on the life of Vernon Hartshorn OBE MP. An early trade unionist and Labour politician, Hartshorn fought for improvements in the working lives and conditions of miners and their families, but he has since been largely forgotten. The first Welsh collier to become a Cabinet Minister during the turbulent years of the early 20th century, this exhibition tells the story of Hartshorn’s journey from pit boy to miners leader and politician.
Open to the public: Attendance at the event is by invitation only however the Senedd and the Pierhead will remain accessible to the public during our normal opening hours.
