Chair of Health and Social Services Committee to the Chair

4.1 The Committee noted the correspondence from the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee and agreed to work with the NHS Confederation to help facilitate replies from Local Health Boards.

 

4.2 Following a proposal from the Chair, the Committee agreed a Motion under Standing Order 17.42 to resolve to exclude the public from the meeting to consider a matter relating to the internal business of the Committee.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write again to the petitioner asking for her views on the letter from the Health Board.

 

On a wider point the Committee agreed to:

 

  • write to the Minister outlining the amount of time it has taken (and is taking) to receive replies from Health Boards and asking what action he intends to take to improve the position; and
  • to the Health and Social Care Committee to see if they have any concerns.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to:

·         write again to the Minister for Health and Social Services, expressing grave concern at the lack of response from Cardiff and Vale UHB, copying in the Chairs of both the Health Board and the Community Health Council; and

  • produce a paper drawing together information about the difficulties experienced in getting responses from Health Boards on a number of petitions.

The Committee considered correspondence on the petition and agreed to write to the:

 

·         Minister expressing serious concern at the lack of response from Cardiff and Vale University Health Board; and

·         Community Health Care Council expressing the Committee’s concerns with the Health Board and asking whether they have undertaken any investigations in relation to the issues raised in the petition.

The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to write to:

·         the Minister for Health and Social Services to seek her views on the petition; and

·         Cardiff and Vale University Health Board asking whether they feel they have sufficient funding to deliver sexual health services in the Western Vale and if there are any plans to remove the current clinic.
