Minutes:

Business Managers noted a letter from the Chair of the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee informing them that they will not be reporting on the LCM on Prisons and Courts Bill in light of the fact that the Children, Young People and Education Committee has considered and will be reporting on Clauses 4-6: Prisons and Probation Ombudsman; investigations of deaths in secure children’s homes. Jane Hutt noted that this Bill would not now proceed further in Westminster given the impending dissolution of Parliament.

The Committee considered the Legislative Consent Memorandum and agreed to discuss producing a joint response to report with the Children, Young People and Education Committee.

Legislative Consent Memorandum on the Prisons and Court Bill

Minutes:

Business Committee considered a paper from the government regarding a Legislative Consent Memorandum (LCM) in relation to the Prisons and Court Bill.

 

Business Managers agreed to refer the LCM to four committees for scrutiny; the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee; the Children, Young People and Education Committee; the Economy, Infrastructure and Skills Committee and the Climate Change, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee. The Business Committee also agreed that the Committees should report on the LCM by Thursday 4 May to allow the Legislative Consent Motion to be debated in Plenary on Tuesday 9 May 2017.
