·         a note on the discussions that his officials are having with Vertex Pharmaceuticals on the availability of the cystic fibrosis drug Orkambi in Wales; and

·         confirmation as whether the Welsh Government has made an assessment of the impact of uncertainty in relation to investment by the Turkish Army Pension Fund on the future of the steel industry in Wales.

1.   To avoid a possible conflict of interest, the Chair sought nominations to elect a temporary Chair for item 2.1.

 

2.   David Rees was nominated by Mick Antoniw and was elected as temporary Chair in accordance with Standing Order 17.22.

 

3.   Ann Jones, AM excused herself from the meeting for item 2.1.

 

4.   The Committee asked the First Minister questions on his Written Statement.

The First Minister agreed to write to the Home Office to ask them to reconsider visa applications for the young actors wishing to travel to Wales from India to film Jungle Cry.

 

The Chair thanked the First Minister and Jo Salway for attending the meeting.  She also thanked the First Minister for his engagement with the Committee and for supporting the Committee’s policy of holding meetings outside of Cardiff.
