Minutes:
The Llywydd updated Commissioners on work that had been
done to prepare a public consultation, in line with the Commission’s earlier
decision.
The consultation was anticipated go live on later in the week,
and run until 3 March. Commissioners were content with the progress made,
including that the consultation and survey will be promoted online through
social media and through the work of the communications, education and outreach
teams.
As Commissioners had suggested, the Llywydd will also send
a letter to all Members, accompanied by background briefing. The Llywydd asked
Commissioners to encourage Members to ask constituents to complete the survey.
Meeting: 19/09/2016 - Senedd Commission (Item 3)
Changing the name of the National Assembly for Wales
Supporting documents:
- Restricted enclosure 4
Minutes:
At their July meeting Commissioners had agreed to consider
the potential scope of work and costs involved in changing the name of the
Assembly, linked to the expectation that the Wales Bill 2016 will give the
Assembly the legal competence to do so.
Having considered options for consultation and related issues, Commissioners agreed that work should be undertaken to develop a consultation paper, with a view to being ready to undertake the consultation at an appropriate time in the foreseeable future, taking account of progress of the Wales Bill at Westminster.
The Commission also agreed that the Llywydd would be the Member in Charge of any Commission Bill on this matter.
