It is not the responsibility of the Government to decide how parents should raise their children. Loving parents should not be criminalised, and a ban on smacking would criminalise them and overwhelm the police services even more with insignificant cases. Smacking children is not child abuse, and criminalising it would make the lines blurred between real and significant child abuse, and light smacking which are for the child's positive benefit.
