Smacking a child is not child abuse. A firm but gentle smack warns a young child before they are of an age to understand what is said to them.
It is important that children are brought up with proper and appropriate discipline. A smack may be part of this.
The overwhelming number of parents love their children. A loving smack exercised now and again is not violence.
This Bill is not necessary. Let parents be parents.

Yes - you would turn responsible parents into criminals!

This Bill would do nothing to identify real child abusers. It would turn the spotlight away from them and focus it on innocent parents who are endeavouring to bring up their children in a responsible and disciplined home environment.
