I believe that all children should have the right to be protected from physical punishment or abuse as any other person, or indeed animal.
Making physical punishment illegal should raise awareness for any adults or care giver who may not know, or understand, the physical and emotional damage such acts can have on a child.
All children and young people, professionals and volunteers who work with and for them, need the backing and support of the government behind them.
