If it is wrong to hit adults it is wrong to hit children - simple.
If adults feel compelled to hit children in their care as a form of punishment they need urgent help to educate and support them in alternative methods of managing behaviour in children. The risk of fast escalation to physical abuse is very high leading to traumatic consequences for children and convictions for adults.

Yes - however if Governments had supported social services departments and allied organisations to develop, rather than cut back, their services we may have had a better chance of protecting children.

Many adults are likely to resist seeing it as an infringement of their 'parental right' - there must be a clear message that it is a simple matter of it being wrong to assault anyone.
