A loving smack is not child abuse. The two things are a work apart. To ban smacking would be to ‘throw the baby out with the bath water’. A smack given in love, ie with a genuine desire for the child’s good, is an essential form of discipline.

Criminalisation of loving parents. If the child is then taken off the parents, all parties will suffer - parents, children, society.
Distraction to police etc dealing with genuine child abuse cases.
