I support the bill because the use of any form of physical punishment should not feature in a civilised society. Children learn by example and it is not OK to teach them that certain behaviour makes physical punishment acceptable.

Yes - I have witnessed children being smacked in public and making this illegal would prevent adults from behaving in such an unacceptable way. This might also influence more appropriate behaviour at home.

It might be difficult to enforce but if it is illegal it gives the children themselves rights that they can rely upon. It also makes challenging such behaviour in public the right thing to do.
