Children should not be physically punished - they should have the same protection from assault as adults do. It is completely wrong that children are not properly protected from physical punishment when they are some of our most vulnerable members of society.
Physical punishment is harmful to children & can have a significant impact on their life chances. Adults who physically abuse children should be properly penalised in the justice system without being able to use 'reasonable punishment' as a line of defence.
I am extremely pleased the Welsh Government is leading the way in the UK and taking this forward,
