A small smack is not child abuse. A small smack is done and finished with whereas shouting and exclusion punishment causes psychological trauma. Parents should not be criminalised for parenting how they see fit. It is not the governments place to tell parents how they should parent their children. Schools will findi discipline to be worse as children are not learning discipline at home.

No , there is already legislation for protecting children against unreasonable behaviour and abuse. Most adults have received a smack when they were young and would not say it did them any harm.

If the ban went through, the police and social workers would be inundated with reports to follow up, taking them away from genuine child abuse cases. The courts would be flooded with cases. Parents and children could be separated causing untold damage to families.
