To criminalise smacking is PC gone mad and yet another example of creeping state intrusion into family life, progressively seeking to take over the role and responsibilities of parents.
Do not try and claim Wales is lagging behind others in this issue. 139 nations allow loving discipline, incl France, Italy, USA, Canada and Australia.
Reasonable parental discipline is not child abuse.

One of the professedly most socially progressive countries is Sweden. They banned smacking 40 years ago. What was the result? Did it lead to reduced violence among children? No! Since the ban, figures show child on child violence increased 18 fold between 1984 and 2010.
