I believe physical chastisement is wrong and counter-productive in that it teaches children might is right. I think young parents need more guidance on setting clear and fair boundaries for their children, learning to be consistent and reasonable in their expectations.

Some people will feel this is State interference and fear they will be in trouble for a slight smack given on the spur of the moment, but we need nevertheless to give the message that violence is wrong.
