Petition wording:
For more than 10 years, Wales Air Ambulance has responded to
over 15,000 calls, providing an essential service to the people of
Wales, and often probably saved lives that would have been lost if
road-based ambulances had been relied upon. The Air Ambulance
has been entirely funded by donations from the generous people of
Wales, but the service is now such an essential part of our
emergency services that it should be funded by the Welsh Assembly.
This will be even more important if some of the proposed
changes to A & E services at some hospitals are carried out,
causing some of the people of Wales, particularly in mid Wales,
having to travel up to 1½ hours by road to their nearest
A&E department, a situation which would be life-threatening and
unacceptable. We call on the Welsh Assembly to provide the
necessary funding to ensure that the Wales Air Ambulance can
continue providing its first-rate and essential service to the
people of Wales and the many visitors to the country
