Meeting 1: 4th December 2013 8am-9.30am. Future of Cancer Treatment


8.10am Genetic Testing - Dr Rachel Butler, FRCPath, Consultant Clinical Scientist, Head of All Wales Genetics Laboratory.


8.20am Stratified Medicines - Professor Malcolm Mason, Head of the Oncology and Palliative Medicine, School of Medicine, Cardiff University. Director of the Wales Cancer Bank.


8.30am New Radiotherapy Techniques – Dr Tom Crosby, Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Clinical Director Velindre Cancer Centre. Director of the South Wales Cancer Network.




Meeting 2: 13th May 2014 8am-9.30am. Measuring Cancer Information


8.10 am - Dr Dyfed Huws, Director, Wales Cancer Intelligence and Surveillance Unit, Public Health Wales, gave a presentation on the Wales Cancer Intelligence and Surveillance Unit’s recent report into cancer incidence, mortality and survival in Wales.


8.20am - Gwenllian Griffiths, Head of External Affairs, Macmillan Cancer Support gave a presentation on the First Wales Cancer Patient Experience Survey.


8.30am - Dr Tom Crosby, Clinical Director at Velindre and Medical Director of the South Wales Cancer Network, talked about the peer review of cancer services in Wales.




Meeting 3: 21st October 2014 8am-9.30am. The Health Committee Inquiry into the Cancer Delivery Plan for Wales.


8.10 am - David Rees AM, Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee:  Health and Social Care Committee’s Inquiry into progress made to date on implementing the Welsh Government’s Cancer Delivery Plan.


8.30 am - Susan Morris, General Manager, Wales, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Chair of the Wales Cancer Alliance: The Wales Cancer Alliance response to the Committee’s Inquiry.


8.40 am – Discussion/Feedback on the Inquiry and Report.


Meeting 4: 2nd December 2014 8am-9.30am. AGM and the new proposed single cancer pathway waiting times system.


Julie Morgan AM was re-elected as chair of the Group, and Clare Bath as Secretary of the Group.


We then had a normal meeting where Dr Tom Crosby, Clinical Director at Velindre and Medical Director of the South Wales Cancer Network, attended the meeting and gave a presentation on the new proposed single cancer pathway waiting times system that has been trialled in the Local Health Boards over the summer. 


8.00am - Welcome, Julie Morgan AM, Chair of the CPG on Cancer.


8.05am - Election of Chair and Secretariat.


8.10am - Single Cancer Pathway Waiting Times Pilots and the 2014 Local Health Board Cancer

Delivery Plan Reports, Dr Tom Crosby.


8.30am - Discussion.
