Proposed meeting of the Finance Committee during the week commencing 11 January 2021: Welsh Government Budget Scrutiny
Firstly, I’d like to thank Business Committee for agreeing to the Finance Committee’s previous request to hold an additional meeting during the week commencing 14 December 2020. This will allow Members to scrutinise the Minister for Finance and Trefnydd on the Welsh Government’s draft Budget 2021-22 prior to the Christmas break.
However, given that the draft budget timetable reduces the time available for scrutiny, the Committee would also welcome the opportunity to hold an extended meeting during the week commencing 11 January 2021, to allow for a full days evidence session with stakeholders. This year’s budget will undoubtedly be affected by the ongoing uncertainty arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and the end of the transition period following Brexit. Therefore, it is essential the Committee has the opportunity to hear from relevant stakeholders.
Llyr Gruffydd MS, Chair of the Finance Committee
