1 Introductions, apologies, substitutions and declarations of interest
1.1 The Chair welcomed Members to the meeting of the Children, Young People and Education Committee.
1.2 There were no apologies.
2 Motion under Standing Order 17.42(ix) to resolve to exclude the public from the remainder of this meeting
2.1 The motion was agreed.
3 Consideration of the Committee's ways of working, strategic plan and forward work programme
3.1 Members discussed the forward work programme and agreed to write to the Welsh Government for updates on various issues. They also agreed which areas they would like to carry out the next policy inquiries. They are:
· Pupil absence
· Implementation of education reforms
· Mental Health in Higher Education
· Welsh in Education Strategic Plans, joint working with the Culture, Communications, Welsh Language, Sport and International Relations Committee
3.2 Members discussed the ways of working and agreed how they like to use the reserved meeting slots in the new timetable. They also agreed that meetings would mostly take place in a hybrid format.
3.3 Following the findings from the engagement with children and young people, Members agreed to update the strategic plan to reflect children and young people’s top priority on the environment.
4 Tertiary Education and Research (Wales) Bill: Order of Consideration - agreement ahead of Stage 2 proceedings
4.1 The Committee agreed the Order of Consideration.
